The Bastard's Resentment

The Outsider The Feast At the welcoming feast for King Robert, Jon sits apart from his siblings, reminded of his bastard status. He drinks and broods. The Conversation with Benjen Jon asks to join the Night's Watch, but Benjen warns him of the hardships. Jon is determined to find a place where he can earn honor. The Gift Before leaving, Jon gives Arya the sword Needle, a symbol of their bond.

The Harsh Reality of the Wall

The Trials The Training Jon excels at swordplay but is resented by the other recruits. Ser Alliser mocks him, and Jon struggles with pride.
